NAGA CITY, Cebu — Young swimmers Jobin Pialago and Zoey Calzado turned in commendable performances in the CVRAA 2026 held from March 23 to 27 at the Abellana Sports Complex.
The regional meet brought together talented student-athletes from across Central Visayas, all competing in a highly competitive atmosphere that tested endurance, discipline, and skill in various sporting events, including swimming.
Pialago stood out as one of the most consistent performers in the pool, producing a strong series of finishes across multiple demanding freestyle and butterfly events. His performance reflected both stamina and technical precision.
He secured silver medals in the 1500-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle, 200-meter butterfly, and the 4×100-meter relay. He also added a bronze medal in the 400-meter freestyle, completing a solid and well-rounded medal haul for the competition.
On the other hand, Calzado contributed to her team’s campaign with a podium finish in the relay event, earning bronze in the 4×50-meter medley relay. Her effort proved vital in a tightly contested race, showcasing coordination and composure under pressure.
The Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association continued to serve as a vital platform for developing student-athletes, providing opportunities to refine skills and gain competitive experience at the regional level.
With their respective achievements, Pialago and Calzado were guided by their coach, Mrs. Richel D. Escultor.
