Biking Technical Vocational High School officially received an AISTEAM robotics kit during a turnover ceremony held on February 4, 2026 at Dauis Central Elementary School, marking a step forward in strengthening science and technology education in the school.
The robotics kit was provided through the initiative of the Local Government Unit of Dauis, which distributed robotics kits to four public high schools in the municipality: Biking Technical Vocational High School, Dao High School, Dauis National High School, and Tabalong National High School. The program aims to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning through hands-on activities involving robotics and programming.
The AISTEAM robotics kit is designed as an educational tool that allows students to build and program robots using various components such as sensors, motors, and controllers. Through these activities, learners can explore the fundamentals of engineering, automation, and coding while applying concepts learned in the classroom.
According to the Robotics coach, Mrs. Noramia Alfarero, the program aimed to equip students with skills needed in the modern technological landscape.
“The main goal of introducing robotics in the school is to prepare students for future technology-driven careers by fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving through hands-on engagement with technology,” Alfarero said.
Alfarero, who served as both coach and facilitator of the robotics program, guided students in designing, building, and programming robots while helping them develop troubleshooting abilities and teamwork.
Students participating in the program would learn to assemble robotic models and program them to perform specific tasks. Through these activities, learners are expected to develop technical knowledge in robotics, as well as cognitive and personal skills such as collaboration, analytical thinking, and creativity.
“The robotics kit will help students develop coding skills and creativity while working collaboratively to solve problems,” Alfarero added.
Currently, fewer than 15 students from Grades 9 to 12 were expected to benefit directly from the robotics kit. However, the school hoped to expand the program in the future as more equipment becomes available.
There were also plans to introduce robotics competitions and projects in the coming school year if additional robotics kits were provided. These activities aimed to encourage students to further apply their knowledge and innovation in robotics.
As robotics continued to grow as an important field in science and technology, the introduction of robotics education in schools provides students with opportunities to explore emerging technologies and prepare for future careers in engineering and digital industries.
For Biking Technical Vocational High School, the arrival of the AISTEAM robotics kit signaled the beginning of new opportunities for students to develop their skills and creativity in the field of robotics.
