Under the radiant, almost blinding sun of November 26 and 27, the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) unfolded at the Division Office of Bohol like a battlefield of words and ideas. The air was thick with anticipation, filled with the rustling of papers, hurried footsteps, and the quiet murmurs of anxious contestants.
Among the sea of young journalists stood two Grade 10 students from Biking Technical Vocational High School—Yaneza Anne Cabuag and Siena Pineda. With trembling hands but determined hearts, the first-time campus journalists stepped into unfamiliar territory, carrying with them not just pens and papers, but dreams they were brave enough to chase.
Siena Pineda, who competed for Feature Writing (Filipino category) felt like diving into deep waters without knowing how strong the current would be. Every ticking second during the contest echoed loudly in her mind, amplifying both her nervousness and excitement. Yet beneath her quiet exterior was a steady passion for storytelling—a desire to paint vivid images through carefully chosen words. When the results were finally announced, her name emerged as 4th placer. In that fleeting yet unforgettable moment, the anxiety that once clouded her thoughts transformed into overwhelming pride, proving that even a first step, when taken courageously, can lead to remarkable heights.
Meanwhile, Yaneza Anne Cabuag embraced an equally daunting challenge, entering both Editorial Writing and Column Writing in the Filipino category. Her task required more than creativity—it demanded conviction, clarity, and the courage to voice strong opinions. As she crafted her pieces, she battled self-doubt and the silent pressure of expectation. Still, her resilience shone through. Her efforts earned her 5th place in Editorial Writing and 10th place in Column Writing. In addition, BTVHS secured 3rd place in Online Publishing-Group Category (Kuincy Cinconiegue, Sweet Marie Caralde, Hoi Han Kim Clarin, Sedric Li Dominise, and Jandi Fullante) a testament to the power of collaboration and shared ambition. This achievement was made possible through the leadership of the School Paper Adviser, Mrs. Sheila L. Pasa, with the assistance of Mrs. Geraldine P. Amodia and the guidance of Dr. Calin Mar Bolofer.
Other participants who also competed in the DSPC were Nina Mae Soco, Kate Calzado, John Venson Nisnisan, Kate Jhanel Sabijon, Rhian Roca, and Kimberly Chayne Miculob.
In the warmth of those November days, the journalists learned that success is not only measured by medals, but by the bravery to step forward, write boldly, and leave an indelible mark on the pages of their young careers.
